FAO and Slovak University of Agriculture partner to transform global food systems

The Director-General of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)Qu Dongyu attended the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) between FAO and Slovak University of Agriculture (SUA) on how to use innovative technologies for healthier diets, better nutrition, and sustainable development in order to transform global food systems
The signing was done during Qu’s two-day visit to Slovakia, focusing on the nation’s premier agricultural research institutions.
During the visit, he toured Biocentrum Modra, part of the NPPC and Slovakia’s only research body oriented in strategic agriculture and food research. Biocentrum Modra was established in 2014 and is responsible for elaboration and testing of progressive food technologies that are crucial for the enhancement of food quality and innovation. QU lauded the facility for successful bridging of theoretical and practical science where better production and safety of foods is concerned.
Qu also visited the AgroBioTech Research Centre at SUA, which is based on applied research in agrobiology and biotechnology with the aim of transferring research findings into practice.
