Ph agriculture receives major boost through Argentine farming technologies

The Philippines has received a major boost with a potential cooperation with Argentina for the mechanization and digitalization of local farming.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. and Argentina’s Ambassador to Manila Ricardo Luis Bocalandro recently met to discuss how the Philippines could adopt Argentina’s advanced farming technologies to enhance local farm production.
“The Argentine envoy assured the agriculture chief that Argentina is ready to help the Philippines improve local agriculture and welcomes more shipments of agricultural commodities from the Philippines, including mangoes,” the DA chief said, adding that other areas of cooperation include trade and market access, agricultural biotechnology, crop pest management, sugar, farm mechanization and digitalization, foot-and-mouth disease vaccines, and sustainable rice and fisheries programs.
