The Exploring Biotechnology: 2024 Virtual Career Talk and Forum took place on November 27, via Zoom and Facebook Live, offering high school students and other individuals a glimpse into the transformative potential of biotechnology.
The event, aligned with this year’s National Biotechnology Week theme, “#experienceBIOTECH: Expand the Future of Biotechnology through Education, Innovation, and Commercialization,” highlighted biotechnology’s impact on agriculture, healthcare, industry, and the environment.
Among the featured speakers was Dr. Ourlad Alzeus Tantengco, who discussed how biotechnology deepens our understanding of health and disease. His research spans pregnancy, infectious diseases, and women’s health. Meanwhile, Ms. Maria Antonia Odelia Arroyo shared insights on merging biotechnology with business to drive impactful innovations, emphasizing her experience in securing significant investments for biotech initiatives.
